Behind the Scenes

Social anxiety is the epitome of this song. The inspiration of this song started from the long list I have in my notes app. For years, I compiled all the phrases to use in social situations if I have nothing to say. These phrases are backups in case I fumble with my words or have a particularly troublesome time holding a conversation. Some of the main phrases I use were added to this song, like “no way” and “oh, my god.”

When working on “That’s Crazy”, a friend of mine contributed to some of the inspirational ideas and musical work. One of the ideas was a spy style version, which was creatively experimental, but lacked the feeling I was going for.

My job at the time was also an additional inspiration to this song, as it required a lot of social connection.
