Ataraxia’s second track to The Fox and The Flame
I'm trying to reach you
But you're already no where
Trying to hold out time
Guess I shoulda been there
I know I did you wrong
At least that's what you're saying
Felt the burn on the edge
Beneath us was shaking
So I cry
and I cry
and I cry
and I cry
Wouldn't last
Shatter all my bones tonight
Take apart my paradise
The strangle that this has on me
This is on me
I'm trying to hear you
To see your point of view
Trying to mend what's left
However lifeless
I know I did you wrong
I stumble and watch
Flowers at your feet
Start withering
So I cry
and cry
and cry
and cry
I cry
I cry
I cry
I cry
I cry
I cry
I cry
I'm trying to keep you
But you've already refused
Trying to give you room
But you've removed
I once held you high
No one else was alike
Wish we could rewind
Cuz I still mind
Behind the Scenes
I wrote this song to deal with a good friend of mine parting from my life. Sitting on my bedroom floor with my guitar, and simply picking out words that came to mind, Waterfall of Freedom formed. As the lyrics describe, there was a lot of crying that I went through to deal with what was happening. The consistent and repetitiveness of those weeping spells lead me to create a chorus demonstrating the constant rush of emotions. In many ways, this song allowed me to heal from the death of that friendship.
In the beginning of the piece, you can hear me slightly sigh. That is a recording of me actually crying. I wanted the entire song to feel like sobbing in a way and the synth strings in the background illustrate that strained heart feeling.
My song “I get the feeling” from my Christmas EP, Red Ribbon and Snow, is about this friendship as well.
